Summary:
The Cardiology Technician assists in preparation of patient/family clinic visits including: history, vitals, billing, performs clinical procedures/tests, assists nursing staff with triage of calls, maintains databases for clinical procedures/tests, downloads and scans holter monitors, cleans and stocks patient exam and EKG rooms. Supports inpatient unit clinical testing and EKG machine maintenance.
Responsibilities:
1.Performs and documents vital signs and patient history, EKGs, and other cardiac testing procedures including: Holter, event/loop, stress, and tilt table procedures, and other procedures as needed.
2.Cleans EKG and exam rooms in between all patient visits, restocks rooms at end of clinic day.
3.Follows orders of the cardiologists, communicate and prepare the patient/family for clinic process and testing procedures.
4.Performs EKGs for inpatient units when ordered.
5.Performs ordered testing procedures and provide usable data and results to the physician.
6.Uses equipment necessary to perform tests and demonstrate an appropriate level of working knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology.
7.Prepares reports of diagnostic procedures for interpretation by physician.
8.Maintains medical equipment. Performs basic troubleshooting of medical devices and informs leadership when necessary to engage Biomedical Services.
9.Participates in cross coverage efforts with other Heart Center staff.
10.Acts as a customer service representative for ACH by promoting the "Spirit of Service" attitude, exhibiting the attitudes and behaviors that comprise the House Rules regarding greetings courtesy, respect, empathy, communications, privacy, silence, cooperation, appearance, confidentiality, initiative, and anticipation.
11.Travels to other Heart Center offices as needed.
12.Participates in and supports cardiology clinic quality improvement initiatives.
13.Provide administrative and clinical support for assigned services.
14.Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psych/social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age
15.Other duties as required.
Other information:
Technical Expertise
1.Experience in performing EKG's is required
2.Experience in health care is required
3.Experience in cardiovascular and monitoring experience is preferred.
4.Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
5.Experience in healthcare is preferred.
6.Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required. Experience using Epiphany, Paceart, Medtronic, St.Jude and Boston Scientific programs is preferred.
Education and Experience
1.Education: Associate's degree in health care or related field is required. Bachelor's degree is preferred.
2.Certification: Basic Life Support certification is required. EKG technician certification and PALS certification within one year of employment is required. ACLS certification is preferred.
3.Years of relevant experience: 3 to 5 years is preferred.
4.Years of experience supervising: None.
