Summary:
Laboratory Data Analyst report to the Laboratory Quality and Compliance Manager and work as an integral part of the Laboratory Quality team. The analyst will support the laboratory's reporting, data analysis and data visualization efforts to expand our existing reporting capabilities, business intelligence and data mining capabilities. Data collected and reported by the analysts will support projects and hospital partnerships throughout the organization, help identify areas of growth and concern and drive operational projects from the laboratory.
Responsibilities:
- Data collection, analysis, compilation and visualization in support of clinical improvement:
- Works with operational leaders, physicians and clinical staff to design analyses that identify opportunities for improvement in care, evaluates adherence to clinical best practice, and measures outcomes.
- Synthesize data into useful and insightful, timely information that is clear and easily understood.
- Interprets data to suggest creative solutions.
- Provide Ad Hoc data as requested from the laboratory and other hospital departments to aid and implement additional projects throughout the entity
- Data mining and extraction including the application and writing of queries, development of dashboards and scorecards and reports to enhance operational efficiency and data driven decisions.
- Communication:
- Clearly, concisely communicate using a variety of methods including verbal, written and electronic methods
- Design and build data visualizations (i.e. graphs, tables, etc.) using diverse data sets of structured and unstructured data in a simplified manner that is appropriate to the audience requesting the data
- Quality Improvement:
- Responsible for identifying, collecting, validating, compiling and assisting in the evaluation of performance improvement indicators.
- Compiles data and identifies trends and problems in performance data
- Assists with regulatory preparedness, including provision of performance indicators and coordination of readiness efforts
- Miscellaneous assignments and projects as assigned

Technical Expertise
- Ability to statically analyze and interpret raw data into actionable recommendations is required.
- Experience creating reports from a data source is required.
- Experience in working with key stakeholders to understand business problems or questions translating them into analysis, reports and visualizations that are actionable and understandable is required.
- Ability to present data in front of a professional and technical audience including the use of presentation tools and software is required.
- Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
- Experience in healthcare is preferred.
- Experience with Webi, QlikSense or similar reporting tool is preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Power Point and Word] or similar software is required. Understanding of SQL and relational databases is required. Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and business intelligence best practices is preferred.
Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Informatics/Analytics or a relevant field is required. Master's degree is preferred.
- Years of relevant experience: 1 year in healthcare or analytics required, 3 to 5 years using the various hospital systems (SCC, Epic, etc.) preferred.
