Full - Time: 40 Hours Per Week

Summary:
Manages staff and assists where needed in the planning, organization, preparation, assembly and submission of research grant, contracts and other sponsored projects applications to private and public funding agencies and industry. Works in collaboration with the Principal Investigators and research staff to review and ensure materials and processes adhere to proposal submission guidelines. Coordinates the pre and post-award administration of research grants, contracts, and other sponsored projects including clinical trials.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for management of RDCRI staff in all pre-award, post-award, and other contract and grant activities including submission of research grant applications and sub-contract processing.
- Oversees the RDCRI's efforts in assisting investigators with the preparation of budgets and other regulatory items for grant submission including those that require sub-awards as part of multi institutional collaborations.
- Oversees staff for accurate completion and timely routing of internal paperwork and ensures timely submission of federal, foundation, and industry-sponsored grant applications and contracts.
- Provides guidance on budget and financial policies to ensure adherence to institutional policies and standards and assist with the organization and preparation of all components of grant applications.
- Assists in ensuring compliance with institutional policies regarding systems access and access for human subject's research (IRB).
- Responsible for coordination of post-award activities in collaboration with Accounting and assures compliance with institutional and federal policies.
- Provides on-going financial oversight and reporting of grants and contracts including but not limited to: tracking of funds, sub-awards, evaluating expenditures, preparation and submission of progress and final reports.
- Manages the effort tracking system to ensure compliance with time and effort policies.
- Monitors expenses for correct allocation to funds and works with financial coordinators to reconcile payments with partner institutions.

Other information:
Technical Expertise
- Ability to understand complex medical principles, practices and techniques.
- Experience working with all levels within an organization is preferred.
- Experience in healthcare research grants and contracts is required.
- Experience with StrataJazz preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.
- In depth knowledge of NIH grant policies, RPPR, ASSIST, and eraComons.
Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or business required. Master's degree. In business or other related field required.
- Years of experience: Minimum of two (2) years grants and sponsored research experience in health or academic setting required.
- Years of experience supervising: Minimum of one (1) year preferred.
- Experience with research grant management, budgeting and accounting required.
- Ability to function effectively as a team member and independently.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), problem solving and accounting skills are required.
- Demonstrated ability to simultaneously coordinate and report administrative and financial aspects of research grants and contracts in varying levels of development, execution and completion.
