Summary:
The Ambulatory Pharmacy Services Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Outpatient Pharmacy, Home Care Pharmacy and Specialty Pharmacy including management of pharmacists and technicians.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates and oversees all operations and daily workflow of the all 3 Ambulatory Pharmacy Services Departments. Ensures Ambulatory Pharmacy Services meets operational timeframes and deadlines.
- Supervises employees, trains, coaches, and develops, and manages employee performance to company goals and expectations.
- Provides leadership in the hiring of Ambulatory Services employees. Maintains departmental staffing coverage that is sufficient for pharmacy operations.
- Ensures the Ambulatory Services prescription use process (prescription entry, verification, compounding, packaging, labeling, and dispensing) is compliant with Ohio Board of Pharmacy, Joint Commission, URAC, CMS and FDA regulations and accreditations.
- Oversees daily activities that support continuous quality improvement of patient care, including accurate dispensing of medications. Monitors and remediates medication errors and controlled substance monitoring and surveillance.
- Leads and oversees continuous quality improvement projects as operations demand, including strategies designed to strengthen Ambulatory Pharmacy Services programs.
- Participates in performance improvement, fiscal, and productivity goals and objectives set forth by the Pharmacy Leadership Team.
- Maintains effective communication with customers, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other hospital team members.
- Demonstrates the ability to document in the electronic medical record as appropriate.
- Actively assists in maintaining Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation.
- Assists in all emergencies.
- Other duties as required, including fulfilling duties of a dispensing outpatient pharmacist.
Technical Expertise
- Experience in pediatric outpatient pharmacy and homecare pharmacy management is preferred.
- Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.
- Experience in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.
Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor's Degree or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree is required
- Licensure: Current License by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy is required.
- Certification: Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS), Board Certified Pediatric Pharmacy Specialist (BCPPS), or other BPS Board Certification is preferred.
- A Post Graduate Year 1 Pharmacy Residency (PGY1) is preferred.
- Years of relevant experience: 2 years is required
- Years of experience supervising: 2 years is required.
